Crump to ride in Croatian Grand Prix
Australian Speedway star Jason Crump has confirmed that he will line up in Gorican, Croatia for the seventh round of the 2012 FIM World Speedway Championship this Saturday night.
Crump suffered a broken collarbone in a rare but serious crash last Thursday at his Russian club Vladivostok, a coastal town not far from the borders of China and North Korea.
The injured rider was immediately flown to Geneva in Switzerland for surgery, arranged with the assistance of Red Bull in an effort to get Crump fit to race this coming weekend.
“They operated on me at 5.00pm on Saturday and plated my collarbone and I was released from hospital around lunchtime on Sunday,” said Crump, who praised the efforts of his sponsor Red Bull and their medical team.
“I could not have been in better hands, these guys were magic and I will definitely be riding this weekend thanks to them.
“I will be resting for the remainder of the week and will not practice on the Friday; I will just be observing the others and seeing how the track shapes up and then looking forward to getting a good result on Saturday night. Fingers crossed I have a bit of luck on my side.”
