Young guns ready to go for 2012 Australia U16 Solo & Teams Speedway C’ship

The next generation of Australian Speedway talent will be on show in Kurri Kurri this weekend for the 2012 Australian Under 16 125cc Solo & Teams Speedway Championship.

A host of the nation’s brightest young riders will fight it out for the National Championship, eager to follow in the footsteps of some Australia’s biggest Speedway stars.

2010 Champion Brady Kurtz leads a talented troupe of seeded riders, with the likes of 2011 Runner Up Max Fricke, South Australian Jake Mitchell, Queenslander Zaine Kennedy, Western Australian Shannon Gill and Jack Holder, younger brother of Australian Champion Chris, all eager to join the long list of stars to win the title.

They along with the 10 riders to come through the two qualifying groups will be hopeful of joining the likes of Dakota North, Justin Sedgmen, Aaron Summers and Troy Batchelor as winners of the Under 16 125cc Solo crown, which has shown to kick-start successful careers in the United Kingdom and Europe.

While individual glory is one part of the weekend ahead for our premier Under 16 riders, the opportunity for state bragging rights are also on the line.

New South Wales will be eyeing back-to-back Australian Under 16 125cc Teams Speedway Championships with defending Champion Jack Holder set to team-up with Brady Kurtz.

They will face plenty of stiff competition with teams from Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and a hungry Victorian team of Max Fricke and Cooper Riordan all out to bring success to their home states.

The 2012 Australian Under 16 125cc Solo & Teams Speedway Championship takes place on Friday 13 January and Sunday 15 January at Kurri Kurri Speedway, New South Wales.

For venue information visit: www.kurrikurrispeedway.org.au.

Motorcycling Australia (MA) will be there in Kurri Kurri providing coverage of all the Speedway action this weekend, including the Australian Solo Speedway Championship, Australian Under 16 125cc Solo & Teams Speedway Championship and Australian Under 16 Speedway Sidecar Championship, on the MA website at www.ma.org.au

The Commissions are an integral element of the MA structure, and are responsible for reviewing feedback received on the current rules and putting forward rule change recommendations to the MA Board.

Rule changes are sometimes made to make competition easier or fairer, to reflect changes in technology or equipment, or to make the meaning of the rule clear. MA acknowledges that those most involved with the sport are in an excellent position to provide feedback on the rules, and encourages those within the Motorcycle Sport community to provide feedback on the current rules.

Feedback can be received from Clubs, State Controlling Bodies and individuals, and must be submitted on a Rule Amendment or Inclusion Form before 28 February to be considered for the next calendar year. Once forms are received they are forwarded to the relevant Commission for consideration.

To find out more about the Rule Change process or to submit feedback, please visit the Competition section of the MA website at www.ma.org.au.
