The lucky winner of the Motorcycling Australia (MA) competition to meet MA Ambassador and World Superbike (WSBK) rider Chris Vermeulen has spent an action packed day on the Sunshine Coast with the star.

Competition winner Brad Shaw, an aspiring 16-year-old Road Racer from Victoria, got to experience firsthand what a day in the life of a star racer entails.

The day started with breakfast on Vermeulen's Sunshine Coast property, giving Shaw a chance to ask his competition winning question: 'What three most important pieces of advice you would give me if I was your little brother and dreaming of riding in WSBK's or MotoGP?'

Vermeulen's advice to the young rider was to always enjoy what you do, and to set clear goals that you want to achieve and make sure to follow them.

Vermeulen also talked to Shaw about the importance of tackling disappointment with a positive attitude.

"Disappointment is always going to happen," Vermeulen told Shaw.

"You can't win every race every time, but as long as you know in yourself that you have put the very best effort in possible then there is no need to be disappointed."

After breakfast, Vermeulen gave Shaw a tour of the property which included a full viewing of his hot rod collection and chatted to him about his early racing experiences and his training schedule.

Shaw also scored the opportunity to watch as Vermeulen filmed an interview and outdoor segment with Speed TV, and to experience what happens behind the scenes at a TV shoot.

Following the TV shoot, Shaw travelled with Vermeulen to Mooloolaba in his favourite hot rod – a bright red 1954's Ford F100 – for a press conference and photo shoot with the local Sunshine Coast media.

Shaw, who rode in the 2010 Aprilia Superteens Championship in the UK and had a podium finish in the 2011 Aprilia RRB450GP Challenge in England, had a great time and enjoyed gaining a personal insight into the world of racing.

"It was great to spend time talking to Chris and he gave me some really good advice that I know will help me with my racing," Shaw said.

"It is an experience I will never forget, Chris was so accommodating and friendly, he made me feel like part of his family, it was awesome!

"I am very appreciative that MA has provided me with this opportunity and that Chris gave up his time to meet with me."

Vermeulen returns to the 2011 WSBK season early next month in Germany.
