CRUMP COLLECTS 11 POINTS IN SWEDEN

The Swedish Grand Prix in Gothenburg produced some excellent racing and some surprising results that saw some top riders leaving totally disappointed.

Eventual winner was local hero Fredrik Lindgren who just barely qualified on countback to get into the semi-finals and then went on to romp to victory in the final to take his first Grand Prix win in over 50 Grand Prix appearances.

Triple World Speedway Champion Jason Crump showed consistency with two glorious wins in the heats and easily qualifying for the semi-finals on 10 points, but from there things changed when the Australian placed third in the controversial and drama filled Semi Final 1 that saw his night come to an end.

“The track was changing all night so choosing the right gate was critical and I was a little indecisive when making my choice.”  said Crump dejectedly.  “Having first choice of gates is a bonus and I did not capitalise on it unfortunately.”

“There are seven more GP’s ahead of us so I am still well and truly in the running and my focus will be on one Grand Prix at a time and staying at the pointy end of the field.”

“Congratulations to Fast Freddie (Lindgren) on taking his first Grand Prix win in front of his home crowd; he rode a clever race in passing Holder and then Hancock to take the win.”

Round five of the World Championship Grand Prix series will take place in Denmark at Copenhagen on 9th June 2012.
