MA-AIS Elite Rider Training Camp hailed a success
Motorcycling Australia (MA) in partnership with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) has conducted another successful MA-AIS Elite Rider Training Camp for 2011.
A 10-strong group of Australia’s most exciting young Road Racing, Speedway and Dirt Track riders descended on the AIS facility in Canberra for an intensive five-day training program under the watchful eye of MA coaches Paul Caslick and Dan McKenzie.
Caslick, a multiple Australian Track Champion and highly-regarded junior coach, said the efforts of the 10 riders eclipsed his expectations.
“If we had to give an award for overall performance it would go to all 10 riders,” Caslick said.
“Same for their behaviour, respect, attention, learning, enthusiasm, commitment and 110 per cent effort throughout the camp.”
Mixing intense training sessions with vital education seminars, the riders were given a chance to experience the commitment needed to succeed as a professional athlete away from the bike.
The coaching staff was full of praise for the talented youngsters and their desire to learn and push themselves in challenging environments.
“These riders are worth so much praise,” Caslick said.
“They have extended themselves beyond words and showed maturity beyond their teenage years.”
MA National Development Officer Laurence Miller complimented the riders and coaching staff for their fantastic application over the five days and believes the 2011 group has set a new benchmark
“The Camp was arguably one of the best we have had at the AIS and a lot of that comes down to the efforts of our coaches Paul Caslick and Dan McKenzie,” Miller said.
“They built an instance rapport with the riders and you could see the respect these young men had for Paul and Dan.
“Everybody involved took the camp to a new level and this is now the benchmark for all Elite Rider Training Camps.”
MA would like to thank the AIS for their support and congratulate the coaches and riders for their efforts.
