FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Uncompromising challenge welcomes rock-hoppers at Avenel
ROUND 4 of the 2011 Victorian Moto-Trials Series will take place at the spectacularly steep Trials site of Avenel, just north of the central Victorian town of Seymour on Sunday, July 24.
Expert riders Tom Scott, and Scott Owen, who both reside in central Victoria, will look to consolidate their top positions in their Expert category this weekend.
Scott, on 62 points, leads the series by just a point over Owen after three rounds. Bendigo resident Tim Coleman, who sits third, will look to close in on his 11 point gap on the extremely challenging Trials course.
"I've been riding the Expert class for ten years now. The challenge by young guns such as Tim Coleman has been really enjoyable," Tom Scott remarked.
"They really have been giving us older riders a serious run for the series."
Another local rider from Bendigo who competes in the A Grade class, Brendan Johnson, will be looking to reel in 16-year-old Trials ace Sam King, who has so far been victorious in two of the three rounds held this year.
For Round 4, King has opted to ride a smaller capacity-bike, hoping that it won't affect his scintillating form: "I'll have to focus a little harder on the 125, especially when I come up against the bigger obstacles," King added.
"A 250 or a 290 would definitely make it easier, but it is all part of my ongoing skill development."
Trials girls Brooke Lonie and Ina Halls will again be pressuring the boys in the B Grade class, currently headed by Glen Curry on 75 points.
There will be a number of family entries competing in the lower grades on Sunday, and will include the always-interesting machinery, and the characters who ride them, who make up the Veterans and Classic Twinshock classes.
Trials action is non-stop from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Sunday, July 24, along the Hume Highway just pass Avenel (directly opposite the Avenel Maze). Spectator entry is free and you won't get any closer to motorsport competition that you can at a Trials event.
