Ducati to quit World Superbike

DUCATI to QUIT WORLD SUPERBIKE

The big news this week is that the Italian manufacturer will not field a factory backed team in the 2011 World Superbike Championship, which leaves Nori Haga (left) out of a job.
In a statement released over the weekend Ducati President and CEO Gabriele Del Torchio said that the factory will instead focus their efforts on supporting private teams.
He also remarked that 'recently the Superbike World Championship... has been interpreted as moving more towards competition between prototypes rather than for bikes derived from production machines,' which he said has led to rising costs.
We aren't sure here at Cycle Torque if the costs he is referring to include MotoGP rider aquisitions….read between the lines for yourself and leave us your opinion on the Cycle Torque website.
