Massive weekend of racing ahead
Motorcycle fans across Australia are in for a massive weekend of racing with several events already underway.
Round two of the 2010 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) is already underway at Darwin, NT, with Motorcycling Australia Northern Territory (MANT) General Manager, Ian Jordan, saying it was going to be a massive weekend for the Territory.
"The ASBK coming up here is the biggest news we've had motorcycle wise in a long time," Jordan said.
"It's creating massive interest and a lot of locals are stoked that it's going to be on - for a lot of people this will be the first time they've seen a Superbike race live instead of on television.
"There's only one road race circuit in the Territory and that's in Darwin itself. It's a small club up here and we hope having this event will boost member numbers."
In addition to the ASBK, the 2010 Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE) is well underway at Portland, NSW, with four-time World Enduro Champ, Stefan Merriman (Yamaha), taking an early outright lead ahead of reigning A4DE Champ Toby Price (KTM).
The event will continue all weekend, wrapping up on Sunday afternoon with outright and class winners crowned.
To cap off a massive weekend of racing the 2010 Australian Classic Motocross Championship (ACMXC) is also underway at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex at Broadford, VIC.
Bikes (and some riders!) from yesteryear will carve up the re-vamped Motocross track during Friday's practice, before racing kicks off on Saturday.
